The Power of Agreement
BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 18:19-20, 21:21; 2 CORINTHIANS 4:13
This week I want us to look at agreement between our head and our heart. A lot of us wonder why when we confess Scriptures they do not manifest in our physical lives. I believe it is because a lot of times, we do not believe what we are say. We allow the enemy play his age-old trick of asking us “Did God really say this promise is for you?” and allow what we see and hear in the physical plant doubt and fear in our hearts. We forget we are no longer of this world because we are now seated with Christ in the heavenly places, enjoying spiritual blessings. We forget the day we gave our lives to Christ and allowed the Holy Spirit into our lives, our perception of things changed from the physical to the spiritual and because we create by speaking, everything we say, we create (This was how God created the world and so as His children; Spirit filled Christians, we create when what we imagine and speak align). The reason why we confess “we have the mind of Christ” is because we no longer judge by the seeing of our eyes or the hearing of our ears, but we see and judge by the Word of God. The enemy knows this truth and so he comes and begins to question God’s promises in our lives when we are at our weakest (when we face trial and tribulations). He is a coward, he never comes when we are strong, he only comes to tempt us when we are weak and instead of behaving like Eve (before Jesus Christ), we as children of God should respond with the Word of God as Jesus Christ did in the wilderness. Jesus Christ knew His Father and so could respond with absolute confidence when He spoke. We on the other hand struggle with who we are in Christ and so when we respond, we sometimes do with a lack of confidence in what we are saying. The devil knows we have the power of life and death in our tongues so often times he persuades us to speak death (unbelief) so he can kill, steal and destroy our joy and peace. We usually know the right things to say but we struggle with believing this is our heritage and portion in Jesus Christ.
Psalms 55:22 (TPT) says “So here’s what I have learned through it all: Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the LORD, and measureless grace will strengthen you.”As I have said so many times before David is my spiritual mentor and honestly, I have learnt so much about how my relationship with God should be through Him. There is nothing I have been through so far in life that David has not been through on a much larger scale and some things he went through, I pray I never experience them in the name of Jesus Christ. But see what he says here, God’s grace will always be sufficient for me as long as I trust and believe He has got my back. Apostle Paul said the same thing in 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (TPT), “Three times I pleaded with the Lord to relieve me of this. But He answered me, ‘My grace is always more than enough for you, and My power finds its full expression through your weakness.’ So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me. So I’m not defeated by my weakness, but delighted! For when I feel my weaknesses and endure mistreatment – when I am surrounded with troubles on every side and face persecution because of my love for Christ – I am made yet stronger. For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s Power.” It is Scriptures like this that should make your head and heart be in agreement when you speak the Word of God. When I remember whenever I speak I speak life (Proverbs 18:21; John 6:63),then watching what I say in times of trouble is easy. The enemy wants me to speak out of fear and doubt when I am in trouble, he tries to come and accuse the Word of God in my ears, but then I remember my mentor David and what he would say and begin to speak the promises of God in my life without any doubt in my heart. HE came through for David and never let Him down, in all His dealings with David He was Just, so how much more Atinuke, who has a better covenant with Him.
Brethren, to see the manifestation of the promises of God in your life, what you say and what you are thinking must align. We believe and speak to create, I go so far as to say, this is another definition of faith to me. I believe the Word of God, even though everything I can see in the physical is contrary to what the Word is saying and I speak it (because I am not moved by what I see) and surely as the sun rises every morning and sets in the evening, I know what I have spoken will come to pass.
TODAY O LORD, ON THIS I MAKE MY BOAST:
“My life, my every moment, my destiny, it is all in Your Hands. So I know You can deliver me from those who persecute me relentlessly (and from every trial and tribulation I will ever face here on earth)”. (Psalms 31:15)
